To accept the quote, please press the GREEN 'Proceed to next step' button at the bottom of the covering email.
You will then need to tick the boxes of any of the optional services that you wish to take. Further down the page, there is a box to input the insurance value that you wish to declare before reading and accepting the confirmation statements below. Once completed, please press the Accept button, at which point the acceptance form will return to our office to be confirmed in writing by us.
If we have arranged a parking suspension on your behalf, please check that the yellow suspension signs are in place and positioned correctly outside your property. These should be installed no later than 48 hours before your move.
If other vehicles are parked in the suspended area on the morning of your move, please speak with neighbours where possible. This helps avoid the need for the council to issue tickets or remove vehicles, which can be costly for the owner.
If we have agreed alternative parking arrangements, please ensure that space has been reserved for our vehicles and that any visitor permits or parking apps are ready for use when the team arrives.
For efficiency and safety, it is essential that we are able to park directly outside both properties. Additional charges may apply if this is not possible.
On your moving day, we reasonably expect to gain access to your new property by 1.00 pm so that your moving team has sufficient time to offload and reassemble furniture.
However, should you be completing on your new property, there are several factors that could cause delays on the day, and our late key waiver provides peace of mind and insurance against late access up until 4.00 pm. Should you not require the waiver and keys are not available by 1.00 pm or within 15 minutes of arrival, should that be after 1.00 pm, we charge £40.00 + VAT per man per hour after 4.00 pm until the move has been completed. In rare cases where keys have not arrived by 4.00 pm, your surveyor will be in contact to discuss the available options.
Rates are as follows:
Charges are applied in half hour increments until the job sheet is signed to confirm completion.
Where access is delayed, we will always do our best to complete your move on the same day. However, if access is still not possible by 4:00 pm, and after discussion between our office, your household, and our team we agree that the move cannot reasonably be completed, we will return to our depot and arrange a new delivery schedule at an additional cost.
If you would like to discuss your quote or book your move with us, please feel free to contact our office on 020 7733 5577.
It is helpful to set aside essential items you may need throughout the day so they remain easy to access. This may include:
Please place any items you do not want us to pack on your beds, such as:
In the kitchen, please set aside any items you will need during the move (plates, cutlery, tea, coffee, etc.) in a clearly designated area. These will be packed as late as possible.
We also recommend designating a 'not to pack' drawer for the following items which will remain such as:
Please check with your service providers whether items such as your internet modem or TV / satellite boxes need to be returned or taken with you.
Please remember: Our team will pack everything left out unless it is clearly labelled or stored away.
Please note that jewellery, watches, cash (in any currency), important documents/files and passports are your sole responsibility and excluded from all removal insurance policies.
These items must be packed and stored by you in a safe place throughout the move.
If you have opted for our enhanced insurance cover, you will have declared a valuation up to £100,000 when confirming your booking. This can be increased to £250,000 at an additional cost.
All removal insurance is provided on an indemnity basis, meaning settlement is based on the item's age, condition, and second-hand value. It is not a new-or-old policy like that which you would hold for your home and contents.
There is a £50 excess on any successful claim and notification must be submitted in writing within 7 days of delivery, including the day of delivery.
Our team will photograph any pre-existing damage to items they pack to avoid disputes later.
Before leaving your property, please ensure:
It is your responsibility to confirm that nothing intended for the move has been left behind.
Upon arrival at your new property, the team will walk through the rooms with you to confirm where furniture and boxes should be placed.
To avoid unnecessary lifting and movement - which increases the risk of damage and extends the duration of the job - please have a clear plan for where items should go.
If you wish to reorganise items after the move, we can arrange a return visit from our team.
Following your move, please call our office on 020 7733 5577 to arrange the collection of your boxes. We offer one free box collection to all customers where their new address is within the M25.
Please note that all other materials, such as paper, bubblewrap and tape, will need to be disposed of either via your local waste collection service or at your recycling centre.
Inside the M25 - Please flat pack the boxes and store them in a dry place. When ready, please contact our office on 020 7733 5577 to arrange collection
Outside the M25 - Unfortunately, it is not practical to collect as a matter of course due to the distance and time involved, but please feel free to contact us, and we will see if we have any upcoming moves in your local area that would allow us to swing by and collect.
PLEASE NOTE: We can only pick up boxes that are not weather-damaged so please keep them in a dry place. Should you wish us to collect other packaging materials from your move, then please let us know in advance as we charge £60.00 + VAT to dispose of them via our local waste management facility, which charges all businesses for disposal.
You may require assistance with tasks such as:
If you need handyman support before, during, or after your move, please contact us to arrange this service.
For health and safety reasons, our staff cannot enter attics or loft spaces.
Please ensure items are brought down in advance. With prior agreement, our team can assist by receiving items passed down to them. We are unable to deliver items into lofts at your new property.
We offer a waste disposal service for unwanted items.
This must be arranged in advance, and we will provide a quote based on weight and time required. Please note:
Some items may not fit through doorways, staircases, or hallways due to structural limitations. Arrangements at your current address may have been discussed during your survey but will be difficult to assess for your new property.
If the team believes that moving an item may cause damage to the property or the item itself, they may ask you to sign a damage waiver form before proceeding.
For safety reasons, we cannot rope or hoist items through windows without prior agreement and a full risk assessment.
If an item cannot be safely moved, we will discuss alternative solutions with you, which may include:
In the unlikely event that damage occurs during your move, please contact our office immediately on 020 7733 5577 and provide photographs of the issue.
Cavendish & Country reserves the right to make good any damage in the first instance. If we are unable to complete the repair to a satisfactory standard, we will appoint a third party contractor.
