Summary of Insurance

This summary contains the key features of our insurance policy. It does not contain the full terms and conditions, which can be found in our insurance policy wording. It is particularly important that you read the sections on key exclusions and key limitations. You must review our cover and inform us immediately if at any time any of the information contained in the statement of insurance is incorrect or requires changes.

Key Benefits and Features of the Whole Policy

Our Insurer will include goods such as homewares, personal effects, antiques, antique furniture, fine art, even motor vehicles and in the event of loss of or damage to your goods during the time that removers, shippers, carriers or warehouse keeper have custody and control, insurers will indemnify us against such accidental physical loss or damage from the time your goods were packed to the time it reaches your home or destination.

We have chosen to provide a plain English wording, without the use of complicated insurance terms, often associated with transit insurance of commercial goods.

The maximum we/our insurers would pay is the Sum insured: As declared by you to us as your moving company.

Key Exclusions or Limitations of the Whole Policy

Certain goods - as per our trading terms and conditions - are excluded. Also the amounts payable for any one item will not be greater than shown within the packing list. Certain causes of damage are also excluded, for instance delay or damage before your cover was in place. The policy excess is £50.00 each and every claim. Increased to £250 for motor vehicles.

We do not cover flat pack furniture and only disassemble furniture at your risk; such furniture isn't designed to be disassembled once erected. We also do not cover garden pots with soil/plants in them as the weight makes extremely vulnerable during carriage.

If your goods were packed by anyone other than a professional removal company we/our insurers will not pay for claims for:

a) accidental breakage, scratching, chipping, denting, staining, tearing and

b) any items missing unless you, prior to transit, supplied an itemised valued list of the content of each carton or package.

Please mark owner-packed items clearly on the packing list. Please note that owner packed goods are only covered to a maximum of 50% of replacement value.

The policy excludes undamaged items in pairs and sets, electrical or mechanical derangement (electrical items failing to work without any obvious cause or damage) and mould or mildew losses.

Please note the time limitation for submitting a claim as detailed below.

Underinsurance

It is a condition of our insurance that the sum insured represents the full replacement value of your goods. If you fail to declare the full replacement value, in the event of a claim you will only be entitled to claim for the proportion of the loss as the declared value bears to the total replacement value of your property.

Basis of Claims settlement

Insurers will at their option indemnify us by payment or by repair, reinstatement or replacement; Our policy does not provide 'new for old cover'.

For any claims related issues please refer to your claims correspondence for contact details. You have the right to contact Gauntlet Relocation Insurance Brokers directly.

How to Make a Claim

1. You are required to notify us as your Remover of any loss/damage within 7 days of the agreed delivery date of your goods (30 days for European roll-on/roll-off moves). 2. The claim form and estimates (if applicable) should be forwarded to us as quickly as possible.

All correspondence etc. should be directed to the Loss Adjuster - details of their name, address and telephone number will be provided by Gauntlet Relocation Insurance Brokers.
